Live Scan
Change in Fingerprinting Submission by Registered Process Servers
Effective July 1, 2005 Penal Code section 11077.1 mandates the Department of Justice (DOJ) only accept electronically transmitted fingerprint images from regulatory entities performing background investigations of applicants. FD-258 fingerprint cards should not be submitted after July 1, 2005.
Newly registering process servers should obtain the Live Scan form #BCII 8016 from the County Clerk and find a location that can provide Live Scan services. The DOJ has posted on their web site Live Scan Applicant Locations, hours and prices where Live Scan applicants (those needing fingerprinting) may have this done. The hours and fees vary widely, and some require appointments.
