On December 19, 2008 the US Marshals Service
increased the fee for serving civil process. These services include, but are not
limited to, serving writs, subpoenas, or
summonses, preparing notices or bills of sale, keeping attached property, and
certain necessary travel. 28 U.S.C. 1921(a).
The change increases from $45.00 to $55.00 per service. You may read more about this increase and why and how it was considered in the Federal Register here.
